Power to the people, not factions

It is ironic that a keen student of United States politics, an admirer of Abraham Lincoln, should be responsible for overturning the core of Lincoln's Gettysburg address: "government of the people, by the people, for the people".
Yet in last week's state leadership change, there is no greater example of all that Lincoln would have found objectionable: government by the factions, for the benefit of partisan political interest.
